Programme Highlight: The Library Project

by Unseen2 September 14 2018

Unseen Amsterdam 2018 presents a rich and varied programme for visitors to engage with contemporary photography. To give some insights ahead of the event this September, we’ll be using this feature to shed light on some of our most exciting programme elements.

Next up is one of our On-Site Projects, The Library Project. Hosting more than 2500 books from over 200 publishers and individuals worldwide, the Dublin-based initiative is a cultural hub, multi-disciplinary in its approach and focused on photography. Gathering publications since 2011, the project represents the core of the PhotoIreland Foundation Collection. Nurturing visual culture and critical thinking, the collection travels to festivals and fairs offering themed selections. This year at Unseen Amsterdam, The Library Project’s first mobile library unit focuses especially on the Irish photobook, inviting visitors to read through its rarest, most boundary-pushing and unusual publications.

Don’t miss an exclusive talk with Pádraig Spillane, an artist who works with photography, appropriation and object-based assemblages to explore the intersections of desire. You can hear from the artist himself on Saturday the 22nd of September from 18.30 to 19.30 in The Library Project.
